Here are a few Do's and Dont's to help make your trip more enjoyable to yourself and the villagers.
Do's
- Respect the local culture
- Leave your foot wear before you enter in to any house or temple
- Take permission while taking photographs
- Take permission to enter any work space
- Follow the instructions if you have a guide
- Please adhere to time
- Purchase products from weavers / artisans & their cooperatives
- When in doubt, seek advice / opinion from your facilitators
Dont's
- Don't be overly involved amongst yourselves while interacting with the community
- Avoid embarrassing questions while interacting with the community
- Avoid unnecessary smiling while interacting with the villagers
- Don't touch the cloth on the loom unless the weaver accepts
- Don't enter in to a kitchen / pooja room
- Don't carry plastic bags or plastic water bottles
- Don't offer any gift or articles to the villagers
- Don't make any promises.
